All right this topic is taken from my church sermon. I find that this is very true. Many a times I wonder on the word “why? “ in my life.
Beginning of the topic it says a statement” it is by life choices and not by life chances that happiness comes to an individual.” In life I guess we all have interpreted it wrongly. We often say, if I have a chance, if I was given another chance, I will … Hey I do. I do say the same thing at times. It is not the chances we have that determine our destiny but it is the choice we made. Guess it is time for us to say. At least for me to say, I want to make the right choice, a choice where I will be happy at the end of the day. I was wrong to think that chances will come one day. Because the one day might not even come to me.*self emo*
All right, the sermon continue where pastor says, God allow us to choose. See our God allow us to choose, He did not say, okay this is how you gonna do and what you gonna choose. He gives us the freedom to choose. But hey, the freedom we have, we must use it wisely. Yes, we do have choices to make and we can just make any choice we want but don’t you forget in every decision you make there is always a consequences we need to face. The consequences can be good and bad. As what the bible says, we reap what we sow. Again I repeat, choices in life has its own consequences. Here is another statement where it says, “momentously enjoyment lead to permanent tragedy”. Get what it means? Well it actually says that, at times we all do make choices in life based on what we see generally or I would say based on what we see in short term, what about long term? We might be happy in a short period of time but we will be in dead shit or in depression or even regret for the rest of our life or in a long run. I do agree on this. =]
All right, how do we make decisions? To some of us we make our decisions based on our own evaluation and our own experiences in life. Let me ask you this question, who accurate is our evaluation? How far do we evaluate? How sure we evaluate the right thing? The answer is we do not know. Yes, no doubt, it is good that we made a decision based on our experiences in life, but hey, experiences serve as a guideline for us not determines our decision. If we make decisions just by our experiences I am afraid that it might not be the right choice at the end of the day. You know what we see is deceiving at times. It is an illusion enlighten a wave touches the sky.
Some of us make decisions based on influences in life. It can be influences by friends, family, peers, teachers, advertising etc. Look influences can be good yet it can be bad most of the time. Sigh. I wonder should I agree on this statement,” You will do well when you listen to the people who love you then those merely influence you”.
We, as a Christians should indeed seek the Lord guidance for each decision that is yet to be made. I believe I do not need to elaborate on this as I believe most of us know how. Of course we need to pray and spend time with God by reading His words and worshiping Him. We also must be still enough to listen to His soft voice.
Last but not least is by the values that we have embraced. What are our principles in life? What values to we have? In Hebrews 11:24-25, by faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. See, in this little verse here it tells me that Moses put God first and not on the world. This is how we should be. Why? Because in 1 John 2:15-17, do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. It tells me that whatever we have in the world out there are just for temporary and we cannot serve two masters in this world.
So my dear readers, what kind are you?
